Transport for NSW and Road Safety Victoria funded Deakin University to develop a Guide for Designing and Manufacturing Motorcycle Protective Clothing, linked below.
The Guide provides scientifically based information to assist manufacturers to produce motorcycle jackets and pants that are effective in protecting a rider in a crash as well as designed for the particular climate they are intended to be worn.
A key feature of the Guide is a series of test results on the most used materials and construction methods for motorcycle protective clothing, enabling manufacturers locally and worldwide to develop effective gear without needed further commercial testing.
